What is the working principle of a jet aerator?

The jet aerator works with pressurized motive water. The water flow accelerates when passing through the converging nozzle and forms a negative pressure at the throat of the jet aerator, which draws in air, oxygen or other media. After shearing, momentum exchange and turbulent mixing with the high-speed water flow, the drawn-in media form a uniform gas-liquid mixed flow; the mixed flow then decelerates through the diffuser section, recovering part of the kinetic energy into pressure and discharging from the outlet.

The jet aerator itself has no moving parts, but it requires a water pump or an existing pressurized pipeline to provide the motive water. The actual suction rate depends on conditions such as the motive water flow rate, inlet pressure, suction inlet pressure and outlet back pressure.
