Introduction to the application of jet pumps in sewage discharge from water collection wells in power stations
Problems with sewage discharge from deep water collection wells
All leaking water and other leaking water in the factory are discharged to the leakage collection well, followed by a large amount of sludge.
On rivers with a lot of mud and sand, a large amount of mud and sand will be deposited at the bottom of the maintenance drainage well every time the unit is inspected.
For many years, there has been no good way to solve the problem of sewage discharge from deep water collection wells; in the past, manual cleaning was mainly used.
The water collection well is tens of meters deep, the working environment is very harsh, and underground operations are very inconvenient and the work efficiency is extremely low.
Limitations of mud pump sewage discharge
In order to improve working conditions, some power station designs have used mud pumps or ash pumps, which can pump a certain amount of mud to varying degrees, but there are also many problems.
First of all, because the centrifugal pump is limited by the suction height, it must be placed at a very low position when used. However, the water collection well has accumulated water for a long time. If the mud pump is installed in the well, it will be submerged by the accumulated water.
Therefore, it can only be temporarily placed during mud discharge, and manual flushing is required, which brings trouble to the cleaning work.
Secondly, mud pumps sometimes experience mechanical failures due to mud and sand wear. Therefore, even if some power stations are designed with mud pump sewage discharge devices, they sometimes have to use manual cleaning.
In view of the above reasons, it is very necessary to research a reliable deep well mud drainage device.
Characteristics of jet pump
The jet pump has no rotating parts, has a simple structure and works reliably.
Easy to install and maintain.
Therefore, it is widely used in water conservancy, electric power, chemical industry, water supply and drainage, sewage treatment, heating, ventilation and refrigeration and other departments.
Especially in harsh conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, explosive, flammable, humid and deep water, the advantages are more significant.
However, the efficiency of the jet pump is low. When used as a vacuum pump, the ultimate vacuum degree is limited by the vaporization pressure of the working liquid. Especially if the operating range is narrow and slightly deviates from the optimal working conditions, the efficiency will be reduced, and sometimes even reverse flow will occur.

Application conditions of jet pumps in hydropower stations
Medium and high head hydropower stations provide reliable working water sources for jet pumps. The compressed air used in phase modulation and braking in power stations can also be used as the pressure air source for liquid-gas jet pumps. Jet pumps are used in various systems in hydropower stations due to their unique advantages.
Special advantages of jet mud pump for deep well drainage
In addition to the general advantages of jet pumps, using a jet mud pump to operate deep well sewage drainage also has the following special advantages: it can pump solids with larger diameters; it can operate underwater and has great flexibility; it can automatically discharge sewage after configuring a complete mud flushing system, without the need for manual underground operations.
Therefore, the use of jet mud pumps for deep well sewage discharge has greatly improved the working conditions of operation and maintenance personnel and better solved the problem of sewage discharge from water collection wells.
Engineering application
The use of jet pump devices to discharge sewage from water collection wells in the factory has been reported abroad. Jet pump devices are also used to discharge sewage from the water collection wells of Gezhouba Ship Lock in China.
